Hoffmaster Group Inc, an industry leader producing the most complete line of specialty disposable tabletop products for over 70 years, is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager at our Creative Converting manufacturing facility in Clintonville. Our goal is to have an efficient, effective production system that meets our customer needs by eliminating waste every day. We accomplish this by finding ways to shorten lead-time, reduce inventory and reduce cost using PDCA in spite of any variable volume and economic downturn. This position drives continuous improvement and sets a developmental environment improving maintenance work force effectiveness. Is responsible for planning, control, and management of planned and unplanned maintenance work by setting priorities, establishing challenging plans for improvement, and aligning resources to ensure completion of value stream performance goals. Leads maintenance by supervising, coaching, reinforcing vision and values, and coordinating all aspects of the Maintenance System including Budgeting, Performance to Standards, Parts Room Inventory, and developing an effective and strong maintenance support system to improve reliability and uptime on all assets. Works collaboratively with the other sites to take advantage of synergy opportunities and share best practices.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Reinforce the Creative Converting/Hoffmaster vision and support its values. 
  • Ensure techs / equipment are working safely and using the proper permits, lockout /tag out procedures.
  • Responsible for the safety of all associates in areas of responsibility and supports efforts throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Provide leadership and rapid response to all workplace hazards, near miss situations and safety improvement projects.
  • Follow and Maintain all Food Safety, SQF, GMP and HACCP Guidelines.
  • Written and verbal communication upward, downward, and across the organization chart.
  • Manage daily operations in alignment with basic plant management requirements.
  • Develop team leaders to master processes within the group and coach other team members.
  • Evaluate Performance of Craftsmen and provides a systematic process of developing the competencies of the work group.
  • Day to day management of all maintenance (mechanics) personnel across all shifts including hiring, training, etc.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all plant equipment including building and grounds. 
  • Leadership of root cause analyses on unplanned downtime and equipment failures, including countermeasures and corrective actions.
  • Improving the Reliability of Assets through disciplined execution of maintenance work processes to ensure on-time execution of predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Understands Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) key performance indicators such as OEE and maintenance labor standards.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of all assets, process strong electro/mechanical skills with the ability to direct the team of talented craftspeople. 
  • Strong Project Management Skill Set to insure projects are done on time, within budget, and to the quality level expected. 
  • Provides realistic estimates for labor, parts, and contractors required on work orders.
  • Determines skills needed to complete work, estimates labor hours, and crew size.
  • Management of outside contractors assigned to routine inspections and repair work; i.e.. Compressors, HVAC, etc.
  • Coordinates plans with contractors, construction crews, engineering, and outside services as required. 
  • Cost management - required to interact routinely with accounting.

Requirements :

  • Understands and uses formal problem solving approaches. 
  • QC Methodology: Meets specification for both external and internal customers.
  • PDCA Thinking: Plan Do Check Act cycle.
  • Utilizes good team member skills.
  • Management: Develop employees, delegate, coach and build teams.
  • Clear concise communication both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization.
  • Project Management: Can lead a project using formal project management approach. 
  • Leadership: Should be able to lead people even if they do not report directly to position. Able to facilitate and manage meetings. 
  • CMMS: Thorough knowledge of our CMMS system. Should be at a "super user" level. 
  • Decision Making: Use of decision tools. 
  • Recognize Waste and Opportunity: Able to recognize waste and size up opportunities for improvement, even in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Must know how to type. Must know the Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Power point).
  • Technical degree desirable.
  • Professional certification by our recognized accreditation agency desirable
  • 5 years in a maintenance role. Experience working in paper converting and/or printing a plus.
