Forklift Driver, 12 hour nights (Utility)

Primary Purpose of the Role:

Operating forklift in a safe and efficient manner for the purpose of collecting scrap and other waste and supplying work stations with the necessary containers in effort to ensure continuous production.

We have the following shifts available: 12 hour 2-2-3

 

Pay: $18.50 - $22.62 based on work experience

Essential Functions:

  • Operate forklift and various material handling equipment – complete operator training, conduct daily safety checks, monitor and charge batteries, inspect for unsafe conditions, report hazardous situations
  • Coordinate outbound scrap trailers, responsible to weigh, record and load all scrap
  • Contact freight carriers for trailer pickup & delivery
  • Monitor auto-baler (bale board scrap), weigh and load into scrap trailer
  • Water Treatment – monitor, maintain and process ink wastewater
  • Collect portable dumpsters and waste containers from throughout plant and warehouse and dispose of waste in the proper manner
  • Collect & replace napkin totes and table cover bins from work centers
  • Empty cardboard racks throughout facility (WCI, Shipping, Receiving, etc.)
  • Collect full Gaylord containers from work centers and replace with empties
  • Collect and palletize butt rolls
  • Bale napkin and corrugate scrap
  • Compress Gaylord containers at work centers
  • Dump treated ink cakes into compactor
  • Contact waste contractor for compactor dumpster replacement
  • Order supplies
  • Sweep and maintain scrap room and loading dock cleanliness
  • Clean around balers and other equipment
  • Report service / equipment issues to maintenance personnel promptly
  • Monitor for workplace hazards and safety issues in work areas
  • Lifting or manipulating stub rolls from pallet to floor or pallet to pallet.
  • Work with others from multiple departments in order to supply appropriate products when requested.
  • Must follow GMP guidelines and report any food safety issues to your supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

  • Factory experience preferred but not a requirement
  • Certified to operate the mechanical trucks prior to use.
  • Utilize the training materials including JSA and appropriate checklists prior to operation of the equipment.

  • Ability to do battery changes to trucks, charging or changing of the gas tanks.
  • Able to anticipate appropriate stopping distance when load is applied to pallet during transition.
  • Awareness of high traffic within multi-step process or obtaining products from production floor and warehouse.
  • Aware of traffic areas, potential hazards including pedestrians.
  • Aware of equipment position as production changes with particular orders adapting the work station configuration at times
  • Alert when operating the mechanical trucks.
  • Depth perception in order to visualize potential hazard within a given work station or isle way.
  • Able to hear safety sounds, alert of surroundings at all times when operating the mechanical trucks to ensure clearance of the work area.
