Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center has an opening for an onsite Per-Diem Licensed Practical Nurse to float from ER to Med Surg. The Float Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department and medical-surgical department under the supervision of a registered nurse. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with medical providers about changes in patient’s status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly, and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. The role provides services that meet the patient’s psychosocial and physical care requirements in accordance with Southern Coos Health District standards of care. The LPN provides care, as defined in the Oregon State Board of Nursing scope of practice.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program is required.
  • Current licensure in Oregon as an LPN is required.
  • Have and maintain Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) Certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required, it can be obtained within six months of the hire date.
  • Successful completion of arrhythmia class is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational skills, and computer proficiency specifically in Microsoft Office and online software.
