Health Information Services Specialist

About the Position:
The Health Information Services Specialist is responsible for performing HIM operational functions to support the completeness, integrity, and privacy of medical record documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. This role involves facilitating the release of patient records for continuing care, patient requests, or external agencies while ensuring the protection of patient information against unauthorized use and maintaining confidentiality at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysis of Medical Records

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of electronic medical records.
• Verify and route incomplete documents to providers.

Scanning of Medical Records

• Scan paper records into the EHR system and ensure quality.
• Index and batch documents according to protocol.

Other Duties

• Handle phone inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
• Facilitate release of medical information for authorized requests.
• Liaise with coders, manage work queues, and process paperwork for birth and death certificates.

What we are looking for:
Required :

• Experience in Health Information Management, medical office, or related field.
• Customer service experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred:

• Two years in a hospital or clinic setting.
• Knowledge of EPIC or similar EHR systems.
• Familiarity with scanning processes and medical terminology.
