Job Description Job Description Essential Responsibilities:   Mowing, weeding, raking, trimming hedges and general landscaping deemed necessary by the facility.  Familiar with the safe and proper use of related equipment including: lawn mower, weed trimmer, lawn clippers.    Qualifications: 
  • Must be able to work independently and self-motivated. 
 
  • Must have a valid New York State Driver’s license.
 
  • Experience in landscaping and grounds keeping. 
  Responsibilities:
  • Maintains lawns, grounds, shrubs, trees and flower beds. 
  • Pressure washing and cleaning of garages, windows, and sidings.
  • Mowing, trimming, weeding, and other outdoor tasks.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment
    PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS :
  • Appropriate attire as required by departmental dress code.
  Working Conditions
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personal.
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours.
  • Works predominantly outdoors in the sun and heat.

Specific Requirements:  
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Must be a self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision. 
  Physical and Sensory Requirements: (With or without the aid of mechanical devices)  
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the physical stress of this position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff and support agencies.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, angry people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
