Coordinator of Teen Experiential Learning 

Full-time HYBRID (Mon & Thurs in office)  

Location: Whippany, NJ 

Salary:  $53,000 - $57,000 + Benefits 

Summary 

The Coordinator of Jewish Experiential Learning is Federation’s primary organizer for several popular teen programs with an eye towards experimentation to enhance and improve these high-impact experiences. The coordinator manages a selection of them to vision, implement, and assess.

Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is a nonprofit organization that serves the Jewish community in Essex, Morris, Sussex, Union, and parts of Somerset County in NJ. Our mission is to convene and lead our community to ensure the continuity and strength of the Jewish people, to support a secure Jewish and democratic State of Israel, and to care for Jews in need locally and around the world. Federation enables community members to engage in meaningful ways, impact the lives of others, and access valuable resources. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Coordinator will be lead professional for the following initiatives: 

  • Iris Teen Program – A program for rising 9th & 10th graders to learn about Philanthropy and Social Action. Responsibilities include program management, monthly workshops, team building session, ongoing communication with participants, and parent engagement. Workshops consist of learning components, project simulations, and a funding allocation process. In addition, cultivating relationships among alumni of the program. 

  • Israel Now- A program for current 8th graders to learn about their connection to Judaism and Israel. Responsibilities include program management, recruitment, pre and post trip sessions, supervision of an 8- day trip to Israel, and ongoing communication to families.  

  • Teen Program support- In collaboration with other Federation departments, support of additionally assigned teen initiatives including those focused on social justice and combatting antisemitism.  

  • Social media presence- Engage and curate content on social media platforms with teens and colleagues to promote and highlight the opportunities and pride we have in our community teen experiences. 

  • Volunteer programs- Partner with other teen professionals to create volunteer opportunities in the GMW community for teens to engage, learn, and act.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in working with teens in informal settings.  

  • Degree in Education, Non-Profit Management, Judaics, or similar field preferred.  

  • Foundation of and comfort with Jewish text, culture, rituals, and Hebrew is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with community/Jewish educational service programs.  

  • General understanding of the landscape of the Greater MetroWest Jewish community, and a knowledge of the Federation system is a plus.  

  • Professional commitment to pluralistic Jewish life and collaboration.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media.  

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills. 

  • Availability to work some Sundays and some evening
