Sterile Processing Manager

Job Summary: The Manager of Central Sterile Processing Operations is responsible management of the Sterile Processing program and to ensure that instrumentation for the Main OR and other ancillary areas are processed, stored and delivered in a safe and efficient manner according to current regulatory standards. In coordination with Director of Surgical Services, the sterile processing manager will help facilitate quality measures for SPD, surgical services and ancillary departments to ensure appropriate sterilization techniques and processes.

Qualifications/Reporting:

Required minimum education: A graduate of a state approved, accredited school of Surgical Technology Registered/Central Service Technician. AD degree desire. Certified Central Service Technician or Certified Surgical Technologist, Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) preferred.

Required minimum experience:  Technician certification through IASCHMM or CBSPD is required within 6 months in the position. Endoscope certification (Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor) is required within 90 days of hire.

Required skills (if applicable): Leadership and management abilities with effective oral/written communication skills. Knowledge of principles of Quality Improvement and of current The Joint Commission Accreditation Standards.

Required license/certification: Certified Surgical Technologist. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), CRCST (obtain within 3 mon), CER (obtain within 6 months), CHL (obtain within 6 months). BLS required.
