Job Summary: Performs the primary functions of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing and evaluating the staff and patient care in the Emergency Department. Establishes, implements, and manages financial resources for the area of responsibility. Promotes team efforts with physicians and other healthcare team personnel. Monitors and evaluates quality improvement specified for the Emergency Department. Maintains HIPAA standards and regulations.

Qualifications/Reporting:

Required minimum education: Graduate of a Professional Nursing School. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.

Required minimum experience: Prior work experience: Minimum of three years or more in emergency and trauma services. Five years or more of Supervisory experience required.

Required skills (if applicable): Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, staff and patient population. Must possess the ability to react quickly in emergency situation. Must be well organized and maintain accurate records. Demonstrated ability in nursing practice. Leadership and management abilities and effective oral and written communication skills.

Required license/certification: Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas.  Required: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), PALS required within 6 months, Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 1 year. Strongly Recommended/Preferred: Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
