Description:

  • Contributes to positive work climate and team effort, expresses positive attitude and cooperation.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence and expertise to include but not limited to oxygen therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, respiratory pharmacology, chest physio-therapy, PFTs, ABG's, EEG's, EKG's, Stress Testing, Holter Monitors, ventilator care, intubation, and all other duties assign per department manager
  • Performs CPR and is certified in Basic Life Support by an authorized organization. ACLS
  • Assures all therapy is administered in accordance with the prescription of a physician
  • Administers medications in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Performs oxygen and equipment rounds per Policy and procedure
  • Collects and interprets arterial blood gases and demonstrates ability to maintain quality control of arterial blood gas analysis
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Troubleshoots basic equipment problems
  • Understands and performs safe Respiratory Practices
  • Is responsible for documenting procedures and departmental records and files correctly and quickly, statistical and charging purposes per department policies and procedures
  • Participates in hospital and departmental in-service education classes and Attends mandatory meetings
  • Communicates all clinical problems or patients requiring further evaluation to his/her clinical supervisor
  • Participates in special projects as directed by the department manager
  • Communicates all personnel problems and schedule requests to department manager or designated supervisor
  • Must be able to assess, plan and provide individualized care for patients in compliance with physician's order, taking in to account the patient's mental status and development and physical needs based on age specifics.
  • May be asked to perform other respiratory care procedures based on demonstrated competency per the department managers approval
  • Demonstrates by performance understanding of Mission, Vision and Values of system
  • Demonstrates knowledge and responsibility for the effective and safe use of all equipment in his/her activities.
  • The facility provides, and employee participates in education and training to improve their knowledge and skills related to the patient population served and the type and nature of care provided by their department
Education/ Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • Must be a RRT licensed by the state of Georgia (RCP)
  • Maintain CEUs as required by the State of Georgia for licensure.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Strong communication is required and writing skills are required
  • Must have extensive experience in and possessing a strong understanding of all areas of respiratory care, including but not limited to diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring, rehabilitation, home care and patient/family education.
  • Clinical evaluation, assessment skills are required for all age groups of patients served by the facility.

Physical Demands:
Employee is required to both sit and stand for prolonged periods. Will be required to lift up to 25 lbs. Bending, stooping, are all frequently done in a workday. The ability to think and work under stress, to tolerate being subjected to frequent interruptions, and be will willing to work beyond normal working hours as necessary. Requires communication ability (speak, read, comprehend, and write)

Works in a controlled environment.

Mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeter, Pulmonary Function Equipment, Compressors, Medical Gas Cylinders, Oxygen Concentrators, Wrights Respirometers, Mechanical Chest Percussor, Flow Meters, Suction equipment, Oxygen equipment, Blood Gas Analyzers, Croup Tents, Stress Testing Equipment, EKG equipment, Holter Monitoring Equipment, Event monitors, and other equipment as related to a Cardio-pulmonary environment.
