Job Summary: Wound Care Nurses are responsible for assessing and identifying patient needs and implementing and monitoring patient medical plans and treatments.
Job Description:

  • Participates in all aspects of resident care to ensure safe, efficient and therapeutic nursing care.
  • Conducts and documents wound assessments on all residents every other week.
  • Dresses and performs wound care on all type wounds as ordered by physician. Documents care provided in resident's medical record.
  • Performs frequent resident checks on high risk residents, at a minimum, to ensure they are being turned according to schedule.
  • Assesses resident's wounds with thorough documentation of wound measurements, resident's nutritional status, family update etc. weekly.
  • Communicates to physicians and family members any change in resident's condition and documents in resident's record.
  • Performs staff education on wound prevention, assessment, treatment and documentation of wounds
  • Participates in Medicare, care plan, QAPI and Infection Control meetings as needed.
  • Serves as medication nurse if needed.
  • Reviews care plans and assures that care plan, medication and treatment record and nurses notes comply with physician's orders.
  • Orders, receives and distributes supplies weekly for all halls and administration.
  • Identifies and helps in resolving problems within nursing service.
  • Keeps current in latest development by attending professional seminars, institutes and reading profession journals.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all time in accordance with Protected Health Information (PHI)
Education/ Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Registered Nursing.
  • Holds a current State of Georgia License.

Experience:
Previous experience as a RN in a Long Term Care Facility preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
Employee is required to both sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Will be required to lift up to 100 lbs. Bending, stooping, are all frequently done in a work day. The ability to think and work under stress, to tolerate being subjected to frequent interruptions, and be will willing to work beyond normal working hours as necessary. Requires communication ability (speak, read, comprehend, and write)
Working Environment:
Works in a climate controlled setting. May be warm due to preference of residents in the long-term care facility.
Equipment:
Must be able to use Medical Equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, lifts, IV pumps, feeding pumps, suction machines, Oxygen concentrators, and thermometers. Stethoscope, and/or other medical equipment related to providing care to residents of nursing facilities.
