We provide a family- oriented company and an opportunity to grow professionally and personally.<br> <br> <b>JOB OVERVIEW:</b> <br>The Manager, Quality Specification Development role leads the development of Van Drunen Farms specifications. This role is responsible for the creation, distribution, maintenance, and optimization of all Van Drunen Farms specifications, including raw material, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished good specifications. This position ensures Food Safety and Quality via establishing specifications aligned across several variables, including supply chain capabilities, internal processing dynamics, regulatory requirements, risk assessments, customer requirements, and consumer applications. Ensuring alignment and optimization of specifications will require strategic and detailed work across multiple disciplines and departments. This role also works with the greater Corporate and Plant Quality Teams to understand specification failures identified via internal testing or customer complaints, implementing failure mode analysis to understand root cause and proposing preventive actions. Finally, this position is responsible for programs related to the distribution and maintenance all Van Drunen Farms specifications, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders have access to current specification documentation and all specifications are reviewed, updated, and optimized at the required intervals.<br> <br> <b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b> <br>Primary responsibilities include:<br> <ul> <li>Lead the development of Van Drunen Farms specifications for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods</li> <li>Execute appropriate chemical, microbiological, physical, and radiological risk assessments on Van Drunen Farms products</li> <li>Generate specifications via integration of information concerning internal processing capabilities, data analysis, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and risk assessments of ingredients and consumer applications</li> <li>Create and lead specification generation guidelines and workflows</li> <li>Create and lead Specification Maintenance Program to ensure all Van Drunen Farms specifications are updated to consider current customer, regulatory, and scientific requirements</li> <li>Create and lead Specification Distribution Program to ensure all relevant stakeholders have access to current specification documentation</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate germane non-conformances and customer complaints, executing appropriate root cause analysis and proposing preventive actions</li> <li>Liaise with R&D and Legal Teams as necessary to provide specification support</li> <li>Respond to internal and external specification inquiries as appropriate</li></ul> <br> <b>JOB EXPERIENCE:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Five or more years quality assurance experience required</li> <li>Experience in risk assessment, failure mode analysis, and specification development required</li> <li>Experience in food manufacturing or dietary supplement Quality Assurance required</li></ul> <br> <b>KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Intelligent, organized, equanimous, detail-oriented, good work ethic, positive attitude</li> <li>Effective prioritization and time-management skills</li> <li>Ability to think critically and analytically</li> <li>Ability to influence others (and teams) without direct reporting lines</li> <li>Ability to parse information from multiple sources and integrate into assessment platform</li> <li>Excellent grasp of microbiological, physical, and toxicological concepts, analysis, and risk assessment</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Excellent root cause analysis and failure mode analysis skills</li> <li>Strong foundation in program development and implementation</li> <li>Strong presentation skills</li> <li>Strong leadership, training, and development skills</li> <li>Solid understanding of statistics and statistical analysis</li> <li>Solid understanding of supply chain dynamics</li> <li>Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook</li> <li>Intermediate data analysis and reporting in Microsoft Excel (or comparable software) preferred</li> <li>Tech savvy and willing to learn new methods to apply computing to maximize efficiency</li></ul> <br> <b>EDUCATION:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline required</li></ul> <br> <b>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</b> <br> <ul> <li>General office requirements, including lifting samples and documents with weight of less than 25 pounds.</li> <li>The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.</li></ul> <br> <b>WORKING CONDITIONS:</b> <br> <ul> <li>General office conditions.
