Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being. As a <b>Product Engineer - Nuclear</b>, you will be a key member of the Nuclear Program. You will be processing nuclear orders by preparing/approving drawings, models, design reports, and owner specification reviews. This is a unique opportunity to design valves that are tightly controlled by ASME standards that are intended for use in Nuclear Power Plants.<br> <br> <b>Primary Responsibilities:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Preparation and/or review of ASME Section III Design Reports for Class 2 & 3 components.</li> <li>Engineering analysis of all components of Butterfly Valves NPS 3 to over 100" for stress and deformation</li> <li>Static seismic analysis of valve structures to Code stress limits.</li> <li>FEA in ANSYS to support design.</li> <li>Design verification using Design Reviews, alternate calculations, and qualification testing.</li> <li>Continuing education to maintain status of design work as state of the art in compliance with ASME NQA-1</li> <li>Software verification and dedication</li> <li>Review, summarize and apply Owner Design Specification requirements to design.</li> <li>Understanding of traditional analytical engineering calculations as seen in Machinery's Handbook, Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain, Blodgett, Shigley's, etc.</li> <li>Verification and identification of Critical Characteristics for Commercial Grade Items dedicated for use in nuclear valve assemblies.</li> <li>Produce 3D models in Solidworks, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, and PTC CREO of all parts for use in assembly models, visual representations, FEA analysis, and CAM programs.</li> <li>Produce detailed Design Drawings in Solidworks, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, and PTC CREO for fabrication of Pratt Nuclear rated Water Valves compliant with ASME standards (Y14.5).</li> <li>Review and approval of Detailed Design Packages (separate from Design Reports).</li> <li>Review and approval of engineering forms containing design inputs and order entry data.</li> <li>Develop a working knowledge of all pertinent Codes and Standards to a competency level sufficient for defense of work in ASME/NRC/NUPIC and internal audits.</li> <li>Technical disposition of non-conformances and evaluations for 10CFR21 reporting requirements.</li> <li>Maintain/update Engineering procedures as they relate to the nuclear program and Code requirements.</li> <li>Attend ASME classes, Code Weeks, and Committees where beneficial to continuing education or pertinent matters for the construction of Code valves.</li> <li>Follow all policies and procedures as outline by corporate, local office, and engineering department.</li> <li>Perform engineering calculations needed to verify structural requirements for pressure integrity, operability assurance, and seismic loading.</li> <li>Checking Drafter outputs including drawings and BOMs</li></ul> <br> <b>Required Skills:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, FEA (ANSYS), and Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in understanding and incorporating knowledge of manufacturing methods including fabrication, machining, foundry, metal forming, etc. into the design of product lines.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.</li> <li>Desire to obtain PE as a career goal.</li></ul> <br> <b>Required Education/Experience:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical degree.</li> <li>2 - 5 years of related experience</li></ul> <br> <b>Preferred:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Must have experience in design of valves compliant with ASME B16.34.</li> <li>Experience in development of Design Reports or Technical Construction Files for valves.</li> <li>Direct experience in nuclear products, valves, controls, or similar applicable industrial products.</li> <li>Understanding of ASME Section III, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is a plus.</li> <li>4-year ABET degree in Mechanical Engineering, EIT Certification a plus.</li> <li>Knowledge & experience with audits a plus.</li> <li>Familiar with AWWA, MSS, ASME, and ASTM standards.</li></ul> <br> <b>Physical Requirements:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between.</li> <li>Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.</li> <li>Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment. </li> <li>Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.</li> <li>Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions.</li> <li>Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.</li> <li>Ability to occasionally stoop, crouch, or kneel.</li></ul> <br>We are an equal opportunity employer.
