Essential Job Functions: <ul><li>Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.</li> </ul> <ul><li>Assist in implementing care of neighbors by becoming familiar with each plan of care.</li> <li>Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to neighbors.</li> <li>Coordinate with different nurses to assist with neighbor care and medications.</li> <li>Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.</li> <li>Record medication dosages and times given.</li> <li>Gather samples for analysis.</li> <li>Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.</li> <li>Uphold all health and safety standards.</li> <li>Respond to neighbor emergency call signals to identify patient needs</li> <li>Provides for privacy while giving personal care.</li> <li>Provides physical comfort by assisting neighbors with activities of daily living. </li> <li>Gives mental, emotional, and physical support in accordance with care plans. </li> <li>Always treat neighbors with dignity and respect.</li> <li>Demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect toward the neighbors, and encourages neighbors to be mentally active and as independent as possible. </li> <li>Provide meals, snacks and fluids and assists neighbors to eat when needed.</li> <li>Provide preventative skin care/pressure ulcer prevention measures; i.e., turning, repositioning, shifting weight, bridging, special cushions and monitoring.</li> <li>Perform basic vital sign skills: i.e., Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, and Blood Pressure.</li> <li>Assist with ambulation or mobility needs using the proper lift and/or gait belt according to established lift policy. </li> <li>Provide report to on-coming shift.</li> <li>Maintain awareness of changes in neighbors’ condition and appropriately reports abnormal changes to the charge nurse.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPPA regulations.</li> <li>In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.</li> </ul> Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: <ul><li style="text-align:justify;">Graduate of an approved Medication Aide program and hold a current Colorado Medication Aide license. Experience in SNF setting is preferred. Understands the Eden Alternative Principles and is able to lead others in implementing person-directed care.</li> </ul> Non-Essential Job Functions: <ul><li>May participate in Eben Ezer committees.</li> <li>Will attend all-staff meetings and department meetings as instructed.</li> </ul> Other Skills and Abilities: <ul><li>Must be able to work independently as well as within a team and in cooperation with many departments.</li> <li>Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li> </ul> <ul><li>Ability to manage time and resources effectively.</li> <li>Maintain punctuality when reporting to work and leaving work.</li> <li>Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn and perform all duties required by the Nursing Department.</li> <li>Ability to work and converse in a polite manner with residents, their families, co-workers, and others associated with the position on a daily basis.</li> <li>Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions</li> </ul> <ul><li>Must be able to follow safety measures to protect residents, self, and co-workers. </li> </ul> Material and Equipment used but not limited to: <ul><li>Equipment associated with patient cares such as lifts, tubs, wheelchairs, gait belts, specialty beds, blood pressure cuff, etc. </li> <li>Use of telephone, and call bell paging system.</li> </ul> Working Environment/Physical Activities: <ul><li style="text-align:justify;">Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair. Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance.</li> <li>Frequently walks, stands, bends, lifts, pushes.</li> <li>Employee will be working in a busy clinical environment which includes being on feet up to 90% of the shift. </li> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).</li> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood borne pathogens; works near moving mechanical parts.</li> <li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</li> </ul> Working Hours: As scheduled by the Director of Nursing and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Working Location: This is not a remote position and work must be performed in-person.
