The Tobin School is seeking a warm, nurturing early childhood Lead Teacher to join our our Jr. Kindergarten Full Day classroom team to begin in late August 2024. This is large, sun-filled classroom of 20 children per day with a teaching team of three full time teachers (at least one a Lead Teacher), and an afternoon assistant. This is a 40-hour per week position with 8-hour shifts between 7:15 am and 5:45 pm. This educator will help guide and work collaboratively with this teaching team to ensure child supervision, extensive curriculum planning, assessment, parent communication, and ensuring adherence to all safety and sanitation protocols.
The JrK classroom is a unique opportunity created for those children who have completed a PreK program but miss the kindergarten cutoff. This classroom affords these children the chance to challenge themselves with continued individual growth in skills such as reading, writing and numeracy development as well as foster social emotional mediator/leadership skills. This is a full-time, full-year position: Teaching in JrK Full Day from September to the end of June and working in our Summer at Tobin Jr program with similar group size, ages, and operating hours in July and August.
JrK focuses on creating an engaging, enriching, developmentally appropriate curriculum that includes kindergarten readiness skills. We utilize Wilson Fundations, focus on social emotional literacy and utilize the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool. Teachers are encouraged to be creative in their curriculum planning as we help our students grow!
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be EEC Lead Teacher certified for PS/PreK age group.
- Experience teaching PreK, JrK or Kindergarten
- Candidate must be successful working in a teaching team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults
