DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer telephones and record all relevant patient information.
- Review incoming prescription information received in person, via phone, fax, or electronic.
- Pharmaceutical services related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies to patients at home under the supervision of the pharmacist
- Fill prescription orders and prepare for review by the pharmacist.
- Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by the Pharmacy and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
- Monitor pharmaceutical supply levels and place appropriate orders as approved by the Pharmacist.
- Assist with the implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties with pharmacy - dusting shelves, cleaning, take out trash.
- Stock pharmacy supplies - labels, papers, staples, caps, vials, bottles, and bags.
- Wait on customers, ring in prescriptions and over-the-counter items on POS checkout terminal.
- Prepare insurance claims and verify payments, call insurance companies when necessary if claim is not paid, override is required, or other clarification through the insurance.
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
- Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by the Pharmacy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or graduate equivalent degree.
- Preferred 2 years experience in pharmacy field.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform basic math functions.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERINCE:
- Knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- MA Registered Technician License Required
- National Certification (PTCB) Required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, walking; at computer station or POS checkout, throughout facility and pharmacy. Operation of office machinery and Pharmacy equipment . Occasionally need to lift/move items up to 40 pounds. Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision.
