Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator

The Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator will primarily oversee all operations of the Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology suites. Responsibilities of the Clinical Coordinator include cross collaborating with other department Nurse Managers, assisting in the development and maintenance of quality performance improvement initiatives, managing daily workflow, staffing, overseeing scheduling, maintaining DNV standards and patient care. The Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator will be up to date on best practices to act a role model to staff and coordinate education required for staff. The Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Lab.

Job Duties:

Monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of the unit; schedules staff and patients to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times and to ensure effective patient services.

Monitors staffing effectiveness including determining skill mix. Monthly schedule completed and made available to staff 2 weeks prior to start of schedule

Provides expert, day-to-day guidance, consultation, and leadership to an assigned team of Cath Lab nursing and related support staff.

Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work.

Oversees and provides direct nursing evaluation, procedures, and/or other related care and consultation to Cath Lab patients as needed.

Coordinates services with other patient care units as required.

Oversees quality assurance activities and compliance to operational standards.

Participates in program development and in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure.

Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Oversees department orientation of new staff. Ensures competency checklists are completed.

Participates in direct patient care in teaching role, supervising, observing or staff coverage as needed.

Knowledgeable in standards of practice, DOH, CMS and DNV.

Ensure EOC standards maintained in areas of responsibility.

Adheres to and enforces hand hygiene policy.

Ensures state data base is maintained with current data for all cardiac cath procedures.

Education + Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year critical care experience and 1 year cath lab experience.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

NJ State Registered Nurse License.

Certifications: BLS and ACLS
