GENERAL DESCRIPTION

ARFF firefighter for support position to supplement ARFF capabilities at Stennis International Airport. Position is primarily a Mon - Fri position with support at Stennis ARFF Fire Station when needed.

DUTIES

  • Support for Aircraft Hazardous Operations
  • Backfills at Fire Station when necessary (24-hour shift)
  • Supports Fire Prevention efforts around aircraft hangar facility
  • Supports Hazardous Materials handling and arranges for disposal
  • Documents Facility Inspections and Hazardous Materials Tracking for Regulatory Compliance
  • Supports Site Environmental Health Safety Officer for Safety Inspections per Aviation Safety Officers direction
  • Assists with loading/unloading of incoming/outgoing Hazardous Materials Shipments
  • Routinely handles Regulatory Compliance Inspectors for Audits
  • Firefighter duties as required
  • Train to operate a forklift
  • Other Duties as Assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or graduate equivalent
  • Required Certifications: NFPA 1001 Firefighter, NFPA 1002 Driver Operator, NFPA 1003 Airport Firefighter, EMR or EMT-B, NFPA 470 Hazardous Material Technician all IFSAC, PROBOARD, or DOD Certificates

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth
  • May be required to work in varying temperatures and weather
