Salary: $43,305.00 - $50,343.00 AnnuallyLocation : Lillington, NCJob Type: Full-Time RegularJob Number: HRW 2104Department: Harnett Regional WaterDivision: Sewer CollectionOpening Date: 09/06/2024Closing Date: 9/20/2024 5:00 PM EasternPOSITION SUMMARY POSITION SUMMARY:An employee in this position checks supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system to identify issues with waste lift stations and water booster pump stations for Harnett Regional Water. This includes checking lift stations to ensure proper operation of floats, transducers, and pumps; checking control panels to ensure they are functioning correctly; observing and inspecting valves and pumps; notifying others of problems; performing routine checks and maintenance on generators; adjusting valves; and checking tanks for leaks. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:Checks SCADA system daily.Checks operation of lift stations.Checks operation and transfer of emergency generators.Checks operation of booster pump stations.Checks operation or pressure relieve valves.Checks tank sites.Cleans step screens and press.Assist in cleaning and/or replacing PRVS and ARVS.Rebuilds or replaces vacuum bowls, vacuum pumps, volutes, mechanical seals, and impellers.Replaces worn parts.Changes belts.Keeps oil changed and pumps/bearings greased.Changes filters and/or hydraulic fluids.Replaces sump pumps as needed.Keeps generators fueled.Works on-call as scheduled or as needed for emergencies.Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle to travel as needed.Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: High school diploma;Two (2) years of related work experience;Or equivalent education and/or experience.Possession of Certification in Maintenance (Grade 1) desired. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with repair and maintenance of water and sewer pumping stations including mechanical and repair.Knowledge of the County's personnel and purchasing policies and procedures.Knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in such repair work.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.Knowledge of the related engineering specifications.Skill in operating heavy construction equipment.Ability to keep records of work activities.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, and the public. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; frequently requiring 30 pounds of force to move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 100 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, shouting to be heard above ambient noise, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to analyze data, work with color or depth perception, determine accuracy or observe facilities, operate motor vehicles or equipment, and inspect defects or fabricate parts.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The employee is subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils. Work may require entering confined spaces and is also subject to the final OSHA standards on bloodborne pathogens. Job duties require on-call and call-back work.
