Job Summary

  • Controller over North Carolina Chaff business unit.
  • Manage General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Payables, Billing, and Payroll functions and personnel.
  • Strong leadership skills to oversee the accounting functions for the North Carolina Business Unit, possess broad and effective abilities to lead and motivate the Finance Team, maintain reliable data, and to step into hands-on accounting duties when required.
  • Strong experience with G/L activities and maintenance, able to independently reconcile and prove-out ending balances, and to establish policies and procedures for proper GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) treatment of all transactions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting and reporting data.
  • Oversee all internal/external audit activities for the Business Unit and ensure the domestic internal control structure is maintained appropriately to include SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements.
  • Maintain continual awareness of the “big picture” for the business: status against our goals, emerging issues, resource issues, balancing multiple priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with Armtec Corporate and Armtec Policies and Procedures as well as the Armtec Disclosure Statements.
  • Continually advance the improvement and efficiency of numerous accounting processes in parallel.

The job location is in the North Carolina office.  There is frequent contact and interface with the other three business units across US

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial reporting of the business unit: Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages.
  • Weekly W/O cost tracking.
  • Provide support to the BUM, in re-forecasting month-end results, on a weekly basis. The BUM is ultimately responsible for weekly forecasts but relies on the Controller for financial trends.
  • Support the Program managers in bid proposals, specifically regarding cost estimates.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of month-end closings, while improving the efficiency of these processes; effectively diagnose and correct any inconsistencies in the results of processes.
  • Leader in responding to internal and external audits, implementing required improvements/remediations.
  • Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Serve as a senior Finance representative on Executive Business Team, making financial presentations on profitability, ROI, and suggested improvements.
  • Continuous improvement of management information formats, particularly in quick, accurate, and effective interpretation and presentation of monthly results to Business Teams and senior management.
  • Lead the Financial portion of the Business Unit annual Strategic Plan, annual Operating Plan, and quarterly updates.
  • Produce monthly overhead rates, with comparison to current bid rates and recommend any needed adjustments.
  • Preparation and analysis of support for forward pricing rates issued by VP Finance and used by Cost Estimating group: overhead burden rates, G&A rates and Cost of Money rates.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of ERP systems, in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with a defense contractor or government agency to include FAR and CAS knowledge strongly preferred, including bid proposals and Annual Cost claim submissions
  • Expert-level Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and excellent organizational skills. 
  • The candidate will have substantial GAAP knowledge, G/L skills, able to audit/reconcile all entries and balances when needed.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills required.
  • Experience with publicly traded companies preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting preferred, to include audit experience. 
  • Solid understanding of SOX and required internal control environment for a publicly traded company.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, Accounting major preferred.  Special consideration for advanced degree. 
  • Five plus years of relevant experience.
  • Experience using Infor’s ERP platforms (Syteline, LN) a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government 

Work Hours

4/10 workweek (M-T). Fridays or weekend work may be required during Month/Qtr-end)
