Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, a 9-12 independent Catholic girls’ school in Pasadena, California, seeks a highly energetic, enthusiastic, strategic leader with excellent interpersonal skills to serve as the Associate Director of Development.

The Associate Director of Development is a highly visible leader in the Mayfield community who is involved with all areas of fundraising and relationship-based development at Mayfield. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven leader, knowledgeable about best practices in advancement who can effectively engage all constituencies to connect them with the school's mission and current academic and extracurricular programs.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development will:

Partner with the Director of Development to enhance the culture of philanthropy by creating and implementing a comprehensive and robust fundraising plan, including goals, objectives, deliverables and timelines, to garner support from alums, parents, friends, and foundations. Share input for creative, innovative fundraising strategies, programs and projects to identify, qualify, solicit and steward donors, including developing a solid pipeline with targeted ask amounts and segmented appeals for various constituents. Work with the communications and marketing team to develop compelling messaging, innovative direct mail and email solicitations, annual reports, social media posts, videos, web content, and more. Coordinate the gift entry and acknowledgment process with the Database Manager to ensure timely recognition of gifts. Help to increase the school’s Annual Giving participation through key initiatives including giving days, Advancement coffees, class competitions, digital and print appeals, and by cultivating, recruiting and managing fundraising volunteers. Collaborate with the Events Coordinator on details of donor outreach/fundraising events, such as donor recognition, Annual Benefit fundraising & sponsorships, Alum Reunion fundraising, and post event follow up. Perform ongoing analysis of fundraising progress to inform strategy and develop and execute benchmarking projects. Liaise and advise the Parent’s Board in planning events and programs that help build community.

Skills and Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in management and major gift fundraising, with expertise in moves management, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts, with demonstrated ability for developing creative strategies for increasing giving and participation rates. Experience/familiarity with independent schools is a plus. High energy and enthusiasm to authentically promote Mayfield, serve as its ambassador, and cultivate strong relationships within a wide donor community.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a collaborative yet clear and decisive leadership style. Ability to balance working independently and as a team member while interacting effectively and professionally with all members of the school community. Motivated self-starter and strategic thinker, demonstrating patience, persistence, agility and initiative to achieve ambitious goals. Ability to work with confidential information with discretion and high ethical standards. Deep understanding of cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Strong organizational skills for multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlines. Solid working knowledge of Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Zoom, web tools, giving platforms, and experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred. Must have the ability and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, and travel on behalf of the institution as needed. Bachelor’s Degree required. Dual English/Mandarin speaker preferred.

Salary The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$92,000. A comprehensive benefits package will be provided including 403(b) matching contributions upon hire.
