**Instrument/Equipment Preparation:**

* Decontaminates,  sterilizes and prepares surgical instruments
* Decontaminates clinical equipment
* Distributes surgical instruments and clinical equipment
* Assures quality instrument set preparation
* Monitors and re-stocks supplies and equipment

**Communication:**

* Accurately and effectively communicates with Central Sterile Processing (CSP) and Surgical Staff

**Record-Keeping:**

* Monitors and records biological testing of sterilization processes

**Education:**

* Attends required in-services, annual review and educational programs             

**Regulation**:

* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
* Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues

**Requirements:**

* Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology required; or 5 yrs recent experience as ORT.
* Certified as a Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST); required (after 1 year of employment in position)
* Two months of orientation/training provided in the various instrument/equipment decontamination, sterilization,  and preparation; required
* Good written and verbal communication skills;  required
* Detail oriented; required
* Excellent stress-management skills; required
* Knowledge of a computerized instrument tracking system; desired
* Excellent interpersonal skills; required
