The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking a qualified Sr. Network Specialist to join the District IT team.
This position is a full time, year round (233 day work schedule) opportunity and eligible for our excellent benefits package including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, vacation and sick and personal days, as well as many of the school breaks. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the IT team, the Sr. Network Operations support staff will support needs of the district wide buildings and systems as needed to provide successful access for staff/student educational needs. This position may be assigned to a location, and will assist all district IT needs as requested. Other duties and future technologies as assigned.
Duties include the following but not limited to:
Infrastructure:
  • Oversees, designs and administers the wide-area network, hardware, circuits and carrier relations.
    • Avaya, CenturyLink MOE, Private Fiber WAN, (DragonWave, Mimosa (Soroco))
  • Oversees, designs and administers the firewall, intrusion detection system and security systems.
    • SonicWall E3200, CheckPoint, LightSpeed MDM, Securly Content Filter, Microsoft SCCM
  • Installs, updates and modifies LAN/WAN network hardware, software and services.
    • Avaya Data, Volition(little), VLANs, Subnetting, Cat5&6/Fibre termination and punch down, Voice Analogue cabling and termination, Viking lockdown and Blue visual lighting, making/testing of cables as needed
  • Installs, updates and modifies Wireless network hardware, software and services.
    • Aruba Instant, , Avaya Identity, Avaya Wifi,
  • Maintains, monitors and performs, LAN/WAN configuration backups.
  • Prepares LAN/WAN system documentation.
  • Available for some weekend, early morning or night work.
  • Works with third-party vendors in acquiring and supporting hardware and software purchased.
  • Provides next level support to the Associate Network Support Engineers
  • Evaluates LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks.

Operations:
  • Installs, updates and modifies all server and desktop environments.
    • Win2008r2, Win2012, Win 2016, Mac OSX, SQL, MySQL, MSDE, Altiris, IIS, Symantec BackupExec (Overland RAID), LightSpeed Systems, DHCP, DNS, Print Server, Google Print, Google Chrome Books, Boxes, Bits.
  • Recommends and implements solutions, software packages and tools to increase productivity.
    • Group Policy, Templates, Scripting
  • Coordinate standards for district technology purchases.
    • Specify required equipment.
Operations (continued):
  • Provide overall web administration support
    • SchoolBlocks
  • Install, update and modify all desktop hardware and software services.
    • SMART, GAFE(Google), MSOffice, Adobe, Google Sync
  • Monitor and resolve all Help Desk assigned requests
  • Provide support for Audio Visual, different presentation methods
    • Projectors, LCD, Amplified Sound, Cabling,
  • Oversees, designs and administers premise security cameras
    • Backup, Archive, Retrieval,
    • Knowledge of all devices related to door entry, camera, card access
  • Assist in training users of technology
  • Assist facilities department on technology related to monitoring of mechanical systems
  • Provide support for Food Service Point of Sale
    • InfiniteCampus
  • Works with Curriculum Department and Media Services on integration of ET/IL

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong interpersonal, technical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be service oriented and convey technical information clearly.
  • Experience in administration, support and design of LAN/WAN systems.
  • Experience with cable creation and termination for computer/telephony environments
  • Excellent understanding of Internet Protocol.
  • Experience with SNMP and MIBv2
  • Experience with layer 2/layer 3 switching and routing protocols
  • Working knowledge and experience in installing, securing, maintaining and supporting LAN/WAN systems and wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n/AC systems.
  • Experience with networking software and monitoring systems and/or sniffer applications.
  • Experience in administration, support and design of voice/telephone systems primarily Nortel.
  • Advanced MSOffice Skills.
  • Intermediate Windows, database, Networking and IOS skills

Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spread sheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
