he Ivy Street School is a small, year-round, private residential special education school committed to advancing equity and access for young people living with disabilities. We serve neurodiverse adolescents ages 13-22. Job Description:

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who has a creative, flexible, and future-focused approach. Teachers are charged with building healthy and dynamic relationships with students and developing and differentiating curriculum to meet a wide range of needs. Teachers work with an Education Counselor in a classroom with 6-8 students or with another Co-Teacher and second Education Counselor in a classroom of 14 students. The position, under the supervision of an administrator, involves teaching, unit planning, technology integration, IEP writing, and grading. At the core, it involves driving outcomes and supporting young people in developing the skills and tools they need to transition into their adult life.

Responsibilities include:

· Develop and facilitate responsive and engaging lessons based on student IEP goals and learning styles

· Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the diverse learning styles and needs of students, incorporating a Project-Based Learning framework for appropriate curricular units.

· Develop IEP goals for students and attend and present at annual IEP meetings, 3-year reevaluation meetings and reconvene meetings for students on their caseload

· Complete formative and ongoing assessments of student knowledge and achievement and use data to inform academic planning

· Provide classroom behavior management utilizing the principles of PBIS, in conjunction with the behavior team and clinicians

· Lead weekly classroom collaboration meetings with other members of the treatment team that focus on student, classroom, and family support

· Communicate with families regularly to communicate student progress and outcomes

· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to assess student progress and determine additional supports or interventions for areas of additional treatment needs

Supervision, support, and professional learning are provided. Ivy Street School is driven by trauma-informed care and we use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and Restorative Justice to support positive behavior development and deepen character. Qualifications:

· B.A. or B.S. in Special Education or Education

· License in Special Education 5-12, preference for license in Moderate Disabilities

· Previous experience working with neurodiverse students

· Experience with transition-based curriculum preferred

· A valid driver’s license

· A background check, drug and alcohol test will be performed prior to start

· CPR and First Aid required, offered upon hire
