Site Controls Technician

<b>Job Description:</b><p>Site Controls Technicians are primarily responsible for the day-to-day support of the site Instrumentation &amp; Electrical equipment, and Factory Controls &amp; IT systems. Additionally, they will help execute the strategy for Factory Controls &amp; IT Asset Health Check Program.<p><b> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES </b><br /><ul><li>Supports operational team with day to day improvement and troubleshooting of software applications and PLC controls with maximum focus on increased reliability</li><li>Electrical and controls support for operations and maintenance</li><li>Interpret and maintain electrical schematics</li><li>Implement small scope projects in assigned areas</li><li>Identify, design and implement controls improvement solutions</li><li>Interface with contractors, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations</li><li>Perform root cause analysis on process interruptions</li><li>Work with engineering on specific electrical and or controls projects from design to startup, including HMI and PLC programming, installation, checkout, start-up and training</li><li>Provide the on shift - plant wide support (including overtime coverage for vacancies) for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution of Level I (PLC/Servos) and Level II (HMI) system related problems</li><li> Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks PDM </li><li> Demonstrate the ability to analyze and test applications for Factory Control &amp; IT systems. Good understanding of Operating Systems environments including Microsoft Windows PC and Server Operating systems, Active Directory, other Microsoft technologies, and thin-client technologies </li></ul><p><b> QUALIFICATIONS </b><p><b> Education / Training: </b><br /><ul><li>Must have High School Diploma</li><li>Associate of Applied Science in electrical / electronic or related technical training preferred</li><li>Industrial controls training / certification preferred</li></ul><br /><b> Industrial Technical Experience: </b><br /><ul><li>5 years industrial maintenance experience desired</li><li>5 years industrial controls experience desired</li></ul><br /><b> Software Systems Experience: </b><br /><ul><li>MSSQL Databases</li><li>PLC Programming<ul><li>Rockwell/AB ControlLogix plc programming experience</li></ul></li><li>HMI software<ul><li>• Rockwell / AB panel view</li><li>• Wonderware/AVEVA HMI development experience</li></ul></li><li>Computer operating systems</li><li>Virtual PC environments</li><li>Batching process control systems</li></ul><br /><b> Hardware Systems Experience: </b><p>Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and upgrade the following:<br /><ul><li>Plant Controls Ethernet Network</li><li>Plant Controls PLC Networks</li><li>Computer Hardware</li><li>Programmable Logic Controllers</li><li>Various other controls devices (Servos, VFDs, instrumentation, etc.)<ul><li>• Instrumentation devices</li><li>• Loadcells</li><li>• Flow meters</li><li>• Pressure transmitters</li><li>• Temperature RTD's</li></ul></li><li>Motors, motor control circuits, power distribution systems up to 600 VAC</li></ul><br /><b> Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: </b><br /><ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Strong organizational skills and self-directed capability</li><li>Demonstrated capability in the following controls systems</li><li>Electricity &amp; motor controls including<ul><li>Variable Frequency Drives</li><li>Servo Axis Motion Controllers/Drives</li><li>Soft Motor Starters</li><li>Mechanical Motor Starters</li><li>Motor control centers</li><li>Hard wired electrical circuit troubleshooting</li></ul></li><li>Controls &amp; instrumentation including<ul><li>Digital/Analog control and monitoring</li><li>Solid state relays and switches</li></ul></li><li>Equipment &amp; system controls design including<ul><li>Large Process controls systems</li><li>Machine level control systems</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Server &amp; Desktop Operating Systems</li><li>Knowledge in configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial networks including Ethernet routers, switches, and cabling.</li></ul></li><li>Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
