The Informatics Trainer is responsible for ensuring Epic users across the Carle enterprise are prepared with the necessary Epic skills and tools to be successful. The Informatics Trainer promotes present-system functionality and utilizes their knowledge of multiple Epic modules to support projects impacting patient care, patient outcomes, patient safety and end user workflow. Superior interpersonal, communication, training, and presentation abilities are key to this position. The Informatics Trainer will have a strong command of technology, be innovative, and utilize effective and creative problem-solving techniques. The role requires significant collaboration with Epic analysts, provider, nursing, and operational leadership. The Informatics Trainer will complete Epic principal trainer certification or credentialling within three months of hire or as directed by their one-up to meet the needs of the organization. The Informatics Trainer will take all necessary steps to train independently within three months of certification or credentialling. Qualifications: Educational Requirements Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in education, Information Technology or Related Field Experience in Lieu of Education: Four years in healthcare with experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system Licensure/Certification Requirements Driver’s License upon hire Epic Certification or Credential within three months Epic Certification or Credential must be maintained/kept current Travel Requirements May require travel to Epic’s headquarters in Wisconsin, travel to other Carle sites and regions, and to partner sites Experience Requirements Two years education/learning/training and two years in a professional setting Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements Strong computer skills, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams Essential Functions: This position will: Inpatient Nursing and healthcare tech training Plan, manage, attend, lead, and document notes/minutes of telephone, virtual, and in-person/onsite/on-premises meetings. Earn and maintain Epic certification or credentials Plan, schedule, and deliver training Adhere to standardized training curricula, class length, and delivery methods Provide follow-up support to users after training, as needed Assesses EHR skills of clinicians and providers and recommend appropriate training to promote end-user success Utilize approved survey tools to evaluate and measure the results of training Collaborate with clinical leaders, clinical staff, and providers to plan, prioritize, design, develop, implement, and evaluate EHR technology Maintain a collaborative relationship with team, clinicians, providers, other departments, and outside partners Function as a liaison between clinicians, providers, and information technology Lead and participate in projects at the local, regional, and system levels and manage tasks within the project timelines Train, round, and support end-users independently to achieve defined outcomes Ensure work is accurate and follows the format, style, and tone as set forth by leadership Utilize Epic reports to monitor provider and clinician mastery of the EHR and develop and deliver customized training to improve users’ Epic efficiency Serve as a resource for Super Users and departmental leaders regarding all EHR applications Provide on-site support for projects, acquisitions, Community Connect implementations, and upgrades Communicate EHR-related information to customers via rounding, email, newsletters, videos, webinars, and other written materials to supporting the change management process Assist with downtime preparedness, including but not limited to, execution of the Epic business continuity plan Assist with EHR Integration Testing for Epic Updates Attend Epic educational offerings and share learnings with others to improve knowledge and educate the organizations we serve Engage in Epic build tasks as needed by the organization Research potential solutions, identify opportunities, track, and seek approval for enhancement request, and assist in the prioritization and implementation of system changes We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
