Senior Software Engineer I/C++ QT Developer
Waltham, MA

Your Tasks:

The Software Engineer, C++/Qt will design and develop user-interface (UI) software for instrument control and analysis software for instruments within the analysis instrument software (AISW) department. The UI software will enable users to configure and execute experiments on Miltenyi instruments and also to perform innovative, technically complex, and highly interactive analysis work. This person will be responsible for interacting with AISW instrument project stakeholders to understand required features, designing the implementation of these features in coordination with the (cross-project) SW product team, and implementing the solution as part of an agile development team and according to the global SW development policies.

The position will be based at Miltenyi's Waltham MA site and offer options for a flexible hybrid (partially remote) work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development of new features and widgets for design and execution of experiments on instruments within Miltenyi's analysis instruments department using C++ and Qt.
  • Development of new features for analysis and visualization within Miltenyi's highly interactive image and multiomics analysis software, primarily using C++ and Qt
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, commented code with unit tests.
  • Perform design reviews, pull requests in a GIT/C++ environment.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies as a member of a cross-functional agile team
  • Expand your education in relevant topic areas such as the spatial multiomics marketplace to foster innovation.

Requirements:

  • Engineering or computer science degree, 5-8 years of experience in writing and reviewing production level source code (C++ and Qt) with skills like multithreading, adding UI widgets, etc.; or a combination of education and experience
  • C++ and Qt proficiency required.
  • Ability to work within an international cross-discipline team.
  • Experience in an imaging field like microcopy, image processing or scientific visualization preferred.
  • Experience working with biological applications preferred.
  • Occasional international travel to Germany (1-2 trips per year).
