Job Description
The Charge Nurse/ Relief Staff Leader (RSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general supervision, provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. This role delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. As assigned, this position provides department/shift leadership in this Charge Nurse/RSL role.
Additional Job Description
Experience: Providing education to the patient/family regarding the postpartum process and newborn infant care. Assist with facilitating parent-infant contact. Assist and encourage mothers in the successful initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, and/or other feeding methods as indicated.
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Experience with Women's, Postpartum, and Nursery required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) required. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with American Heart Association (AHA), and NIHSS stroke scale with American Heart Association (AHA) if unit required
