Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Hazardous Waste Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience in handling, transporting, and disposing of hazardous materials. This role requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations and a commitment to safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Waste Handling and Disposal: Safely collect, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste materials in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and safety standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits of waste storage areas and equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of waste generation, storage, and disposal activities. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities for hazardous material spills or releases. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain waste handling equipment, including pumps, forklifts, and vehicles. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to junior staff on hazardous waste management practices and safety protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hazardous waste management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, RCRA).
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary certifications for waste handling and transportation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
