Orlando Health College is seeking an outstanding CNA/HHA instructor for our Nursing Assistant Program. The successful candidate will report to the Orlando Campus President.
The Program Coordinator teaches theory and fundamentals of nursing and supervises students as they practice clinical tasks. This person evaluates student progress through observation and testing and maintains student records of attendance and grades. The Program Coordinator works within the framework of curriculum developed by the teaching facility and will be responsible for the overall success of the program. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the Florida State Board of Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to physically demonstrate hands-on skills as needed to pass state certification exam
  • Ability to teach critical thinking and healthcare theory as needed to pass state certification exam
  • Ability to identify students who are having difficulty with the material and provide a different learning approach to help them better comprehend the material
  • Ability to train the students in technical skills such as checking blood pressure and respiration rate, and re-positioning a patient in bed.
  • The instructor teaches safety and emergency procedures, and how to respond to different patient behaviors
  • Ability to follow a pre-existing lesson plan
  • Ability to create their own lesson plan as the needs of the program/individual classes evolve
  • Ability to act as a clinical instructor at 3rd party externship sites as needed
  • Technically savvy (ability to learn new technology and implement its use within a reasonable amount of time)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 5 hours) and lift up to 50LBS on occasion
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
  • Unencumbered active Colorado RN License.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience, of which
  • a minimum of 1 year in nursing home services including supervision of certified nursing assistants.
  • 1 years of Teaching experience required.
This is a part-time position with opportunity for growth within the company for the right candidate. Hours are Monday through Friday with additional hours for planning, tutoring and staff development on occasion. All lesson plans, homework, handouts and tests are prepared for you with room to expand, edit and change as needed.
