Halifax Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Interventional Pain Services.

Summary

The Office Nurse will work in this department and will function as staff nurse within the department assisting the physician with procedures in the office and at Halifax Health Port Orange outpatient surgery area. All knowledge and technical ability utilized will be in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act and Halifax Health and the Department's Policies and Procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Currently licensed or eligible for RN licensure in State of Florida.
  • Bachelor degree/diploma/associate degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Professional Rescuer CPR certification
  • One year or more of hospital or clinic setting experience preferred
  • Prior experience with phone triage and call response
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel.
  • Personal professional development, accountability, organization and leadership in the performance of professional nursing practice.
  • Strong computer and applications skills to include MS Office 
  • Ability to provide competent clinical knowledge as evidenced by schooling and previous experience
  • Ability to handle high volume of incoming phone calls appropriately and efficiently, effectively triaging whenever appropriate.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the clinical resource & liaison for the incoming callers, Referrals Department staff, physicians & other staff (both internal Oncology and external Referring physician offices)
  • Answer, appropriately assess and triage incoming calls in the New Patient Referrals Department
  • Help determine the urgency for patient to be seen based on clinical information provided and consultation with the referring and receiving physicians
  • Work with the Operations Coordinator to supervise the call flow and efficiency within the Referrals Department, including call processing software monitoring and report development and review
  • Maintains confidentiality in communications regarding patients and staff
  • Directly assists Referrals staff to ensure the following is completed:
    • Open communication with physicians, staff and referring physicians/offices to ensure patients are triaged appropriately
    • Responds to caller voicemail on a timely basis (within 24 business hours)
    • Complete call processing worksheets and forwards to insurance verification areas
    • Registers and schedules new patients accordingly
    • Completes new patient checklists in the electronic medical records system
