Schedule: Full-time Shift: Days Location: AdventHealth Cancer Institute – 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach, FL 32117 The role you’ll contribute: The Radiation Oncology office nurse demonstrated a cancer specific knowledge base and clinical expertise in cancer care to provide nursing care to patients receiving Radiation Therapy under the direction of the physician and/or nurse manager in compliance with established standards and protocols of the practice and AdventHealth goals and objectives. The value you’ll bring to the team: Functions independently and interdependently with the radiation oncology team in providing quality patient care. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician and utilizing guidelines established by AdventHealth. Schedules patients for procedures, diagnostic testing or specialists, as directed by the physician. Insert IV access for radiation testing and order stat lab work, as ordered by the physician, during the patient visit. Documents patient information per visit encounter(s) in multiple electronic medical records. Tracking of diagnostic tests, ordered, and received, as well as notification of patient. Triage calls and notify physician of phone encounter. Communicates patient care concerns to appropriate personnel, bringing situations out of his/her realm to the attention of the appropriate leadership team. Provides and documents patient/family teaching based on an assessment of needs, as directed by the physician. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of medical equipment, as appropriate, within the scope of the practice. Assists patients with ambulation using proper technique and tools. Maintains exam rooms are neat and clean between each patient using DNV guidelines. Assumes responsibility for inventory control of clinical supplies, ensuring adequate levels are kept, and organized, on an ongoing basis.Unpacks and verifies proper receipt of supplies, handling any necessary returns, rejections, etc. Provides control and maintenance of biohazardous waste and sharps. Properly cleans and packages instruments for sterilization. Explains tests, procedures, disease processes, medications and equipment to patient and family throughout the course of treatment. Participates in cancer committee and tumor boards as required by American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer. The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: Minimum qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing program Current Florida Registered Nurse licensure Minimum 2 years nursing experience Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Proficient in IV access Preferred qualifications: Oncology nursing experience Oncology Certification This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
