Occupational Health Nurse

The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for providing treatment to employees for occupational injuries and illness and handle worker’s compensation cases from the time of injury to return to work. Conduct surveillance medical exams. Implement, manage and evaluate Aiken’s Health Standardization Plan.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE: 

  • Provide treatment to employees for occupational injuries and illness.
  • Maintain records of treatment and all required agency recordkeeping such as OSHA logs and DHEC records.
  • Manage worker’s compensation cases from the time of injury to return to work.
  • Ensure compliance with Emerson standards and corporate policy.
  • Lead and provide training for the First Responder Team.
  • Coordinate wellness programs for the plant as well as assist in the coordination of all safety programs.
  • Provide input on the monthly safety newsletter.
  • Update and maintain safety nursing communication bulletin board.
  • Create reports and presentations to highlight metrics from programs and injury statistics
  • Work with EHS Manager to investigates all work-related accidents involving employees
  • Counsel employees on personal health matters.      Keeps current on community resources for referral purposes. 
  • Conduct onsite exams for company programs such as, but not limited to new hire drug screens and fork lift operator medical exams

 

WHO YOU ARE: You will be tasked with making quick and decisive decisions in constantly evolving, unexpected situations. You will actively seek input from pertinent sources to make timely and well informed decisions, and deliver messages in a clear , compelling and concise manner.

 

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

  • Current RN license for the state of South Carolina.
  • Knowledge of worker’s compensation statutes for the state of South Carolina.
  • 2 years of experience in an Industrial Nursing capacity in a manufacturing facility or urgent care facility preferred.
  • Experience using electronic medical record.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role
