Nurse Practitioner - OBY/GYN My Clinics

The Nurse Practitioner, OB/GYN will work in the My Linton Clinic Women's Health (OB/GYN) department. In this position, the NP will focus on women's health from adolescence to menopause and beyond. This NP will be focusing on outpatient care: OB patients up to 28 weeks pregnant (if not high risk), uncomplicated GYN patient, annuals, biopsies, IUD insertions and removals, and any additional general care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in the rural health clinic, the job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct care to patients which demonstrates clinical expertise and advanced knowledge.
  • Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic health problems within specialty area of practice.
  • Collaborates and consults with physicians and other health care professionals in area of clinical expertise.
  • Develops educational systems and strategies for teaching patients, families and staff on topics related to area of expertise.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing advanced physical examinations in specialty area.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests to establish diagnoses and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Orders/prescribes medications, therapies, interventions and procedures according to clinical privileges.
  • Documents in the medical record all care provided and/or procedures performed for which the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is responsible.
  • Collaborates with all members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and direct an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Consults with other specialties and disciplines as appropriate to meet all health care needs of patients.
  • Participates in unit/departmental/divisional or hospital committees/task forces and professional organizations.
  • Advocates for patients, families, nursing staff and other members of the healthcare community.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures in clinical area of expertise to establish standards for clinical practice.
  • Consults with leadership in the identification, evaluation and problem solving of clinical system and process issues.
  • Collaborates with leadership teams to develop, implement and evaluate strategic plans for quality improvement initiatives, utilizing evidenced based practice guidelines as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with physicians to lead changes in clinical practice.
  • Interacts with patients, families, staff, and providers in a professional, positive, and respectful manner.

Job Requirements
Education: Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing.
Licensure/Certification:
National Board Certification as a Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner
MSN/DNP with Obstetrics and Gynecology WHNP or FNP Specialty - Preferred
BLS Certification
Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of OBGYN experience in an RN or NP role preferred
Previous NP experience preferred
Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner
Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed, and grammatically correct correspondence
