Position: Mechanic

Reports to: Mechanic Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview: The Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of our heavy machinery and vehicle used in forestry operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine maintenance and repair, with a passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections on diesel engines, heavy machinery, and vehicles used in forestry operations.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities using computerized systems or logs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the procurement of spare parts and maintain inventory levels to support ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with other team members to optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and productivity.
  • Night shift availability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a forestry or heavy equipment environment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
