The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician position will report to the Maintenance Engineer and assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum plant performance. This technician requires strong emphasis in electrical components and instrumentation experience. The Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will support all policies, goals and objectives of the company, and will represent the company in a knowledgeable and professional manner.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support all company safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and policies.
  • Troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Endorse the use of the company’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure downtime is minimized, plant performance is maximized, and all assets are preserved.
  • Ensure parts used for work orders are recorded in CMMS.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance and repair techniques on electrical components, instruments, computer/PLC controlled and mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrate personal computer skills and use of electrical and mechanical programs.
  • Responsible for PLC hardware and programming.
  • Responsible for DCS hardware.
  • Requires ability to read electrical, mechanical and P&ID prints.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians based on scheduled work.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds in a clean, well-kept and efficient operating manner.
  • Participate in plant projects when needed.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions outside of normal working hours.
  • Follow all local, state and federal regulations as they apply to the maintenance department.
  • Complete all tasks assigned by Maintenance Engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of service and work performance, and also support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment that fosters creative problem solving and shared learning.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records and company matters.
  • Promote E Energy Adams in the community.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • Must be a certified electrician in the state of Nebraska.
  • Technical degree or certification in electrical /instrumentation related field
  • 5 or more years of electrical/instrumentation experience or relevant education
    1. Maintenance experience in an industrial environment is required, preferably in the ethanol industry
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, organizational, time-management and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products


Abilities Required

  • Work rotating on-call schedule during weekends and holidays
  • This position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.
  • Ability to work while standing on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to communicate by using and hearing a 2-way radio system.
  • Ability to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis during the assigned stand-by week and work outside of normally scheduled hours as needed.
