Wabash Center comes from humble beginnings. The origin of the organization can be traced to a core group of families with children who had special needs. Today, Wabash Center has grown into a comprehensive service provider for those with disabilities or special needs that is leading the way to supporting individuals in their pursuit of quality of life for them and their families.

The nurse must have open communication and working relationships with staff and family involved in the life of the individuals. The nurse is responsible for developing and monitoring health services for each resident to meet their individual needs. The nurse is responsible for training residential and day program staff in medication administration.
Here is what you can do for Wabash Center as our Part-Time LPN or RN:
  • Have an interest in and empathy for persons with disabilities
  • Train staff in medication administration using the State of Indiana mandated curriculum
  • Monitor medication administration
  • Complete quarterly nursing assessments for each resident
  • Maintain medical charts to meet applicable regulations. This includes 90-day physician orders, documentation of needed and required evaluations and treatment provided by outside service providers
  • Provide and document annual Mantoux (TB) tests for consumers and staff
  • Provide a minimum of two CPR classes per month. Additional classes may be requires a the request of Wabash Center Administration

Requirements
  • A current Indiana Nursing License is required.
  • Skills in evaluation and assessment of individual's health needs.
  • Certified to instruct CPR and Basic First Aid (Or must be obtained within three months of employment).
