Salary: $25 - $35 per hour, with potential flexibility based on experience
Terrific Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) position with an Animal Shelter in the Hudson Valley area. The LVT will be an integral member of a team focused on meeting the needs of both shelter and public patients. The role will assist the Veterinarian and Lead Vet Tech in providing medical care, assisting in surgeries, maintaining patient records, and other client/shelter support. Candidates should have approximately 2-3+ years of related experience, with time in a shelter setting preferred. Experience working in a high volume spay/neuter environment preferred. Veterinary Technician license in the state of New York is required. This position can be either part-time or full-time. The salary for this position is $25 - $35 per hour, with potential flexibility based on experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage animal intake and health assessments
  • Assist veterinarians in providing medical care, including administering medications, monitoring behavior, and performing diagnostic tests
  • Provide surgical assistance by performing anesthesia protocols, preparing animals and equipment, cleaning surgical area and equipment
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Collaborate with the Lead Vet Tech on inventory needs
  • Provide education to adopters and caregivers on proper care and medical needs
  • Assist with the evaluation of new animals at the shelter
  • Participate in programs and outreach for the community
Qualifications:
  • Approximately 2-3+ years of relevant experience with time in a shelter setting preferred
  • New York State Veterinary Technician License required
  • Experience in a high volume spay/neuter environment preferred
  • Ability to handle aggressive and, or frightened animals
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
