JOB SUMMARY
Collect, test and analyze geological samples before, during, and after processing to determine physical and chemical properties to ensure that products meet quality standards.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and interpret daily samples from mining, plant or drilling to determine suitability for use.
- Perform plant loss studies.
- Accurately prepare samples without contamination.
- Communicate test results with Quality Supervisor and plant operators. Electronically document results in quality system.
- Operate Lo-Iron Sand sample room to include sand leaching process.
- Must be able to read and operate Flowsorb and Sedigraph machines.
- Prepare and perform wet chemistry analysis.
- Prepare core samples for testing.
- Perform flotation samples per established sampling method.
- Generate Certificate of Analysis and shipping pre-shipment examples.
- Perform non-routine analysis.
SKILLS
- Communication skills required to coordinate results and production process adjustments to operators.
- Reading and writing required to perform tests and document results.
- Working knowledge of excel and word required to document results.
- Strong background in minerals processing, especially flotation, required for interpreting results and addressing noncompliance with specifications.
- Must be capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
- Must be detail oriented.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
- At least one year lab and testing experience required.
