Position Title: Electrician

Location: Spruce Pine

Reports to: Electrical Manager


Summary:

Ensure efficient and safe performance of plant equipment through utilizing a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical operation of machinery. Carry out routine and advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs so that a quality product can be delivered to the customer in a timely manner. Primarily responsible for ongoing equipment maintenance, detecting and diagnosing problems, repairing and replacing parts in order to establish optimal equipment functioning and support the priorities of EHS, Quality, and Low-Cost Production.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Install new electrical equipment (motor, controller, PLC’s, lighting, loop control equipment).
  2. Maintain equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  3. Test all equipment
  4. Repair and replace equipment including calibration.
  5. Monitor electrical equipment to ensure safety.
  6. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  7. Looking for innovative ways to cut cost while maintaining priorities.
  8. Schedule work with managers and other departments.
  9. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  10. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.


Skill/knowledge Requirement:

  1. Have familiarity with N.E.C. power wiring, high voltage systems, and be able to apply to plant operation design maintenance.
  2. Build and maintain total electrical systems working from sketches, schematics, and blueprints.
  3. Write, troubleshoot, and modify logic and ladder diagrams for programmable controllers used in plant operations.
  4. Identity problems and repair scale systems.
  5. Identify basic mechanical duties and identify problems pertaining to maintaining plant-processing equipment.


Required Activities: Position requires 70% walking and/or standing in an industrial environment. Will be exposed to all

seasonal climatic conditions; exposed to dust, noise, and uneven sometimes slippery surfaces. Required to climb stairs, ladders,

and elevated platforms to a height of 75 ft. Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 100 lbs. Occasionally will

operate company pickup truck and forklift. Constantly communicating with Operators, Maintenance, QA, and Supervisors. Must be on call and work nights and weekends as needed.


Education/Experience: High School Diploma. A valid North Carolina Electrical License is preferred.
