Job Summary:
Hoskinson Contracting is looking for an Estimator/Scheduler for our South Dakota branch. Come join an exciting, fast growing company! We have top of the line equipment and tools to get the job done! We are looking for an experienced individual to estimate and schedule our outside service jobs for Concrete, Dirt Work, and small Construction projects. 

The Estimator/Scheduler role combines technical expertise in cost estimation with the organizational skills needed to manage project schedules effectively. It's a critical position that contributes directly to project success by ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role combines technical proficiency in cost estimation with strong sales skills to secure and manage business opportunities effectively. This position requires a blend of analytical ability, customer engagement, and business acumen.

Estimating Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documents to calculate the costs involved in materials, labor, equipment, and overheads required for a project.
  2. Bid Preparation: Preparing accurate and competitive bids or proposals based on the cost estimates and project requirements.
  3. Quantifying Requirements: Determining the quantities of materials and resources needed for a project.
  4. Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  5. Risk Assessment: Identifying potential risks and uncertainties associated with a project that could impact costs.
  6. Utilize estimating software and tools to develop comprehensive and competitive bids for new projects.

Project Scheduling:
  1. Develop project schedules and timelines based on project scope, resources, and constraints.
  2. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish project milestones and deliverables.
  3. Monitor project progress against established schedules and identify potential delays or issues.
  4. Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in project scope, resource availability, or other factors.

Sales Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Interaction: Building and maintaining relationships with potential and existing customers.
  2. Presentations: Delivering presentations to clients on company capabilities, services, and products.
  3. Negotiation: Negotiating contracts, terms, and conditions with clients to close deals.
  4. Market Research: Understanding market trends and customer needs to identify potential sales opportunities.
  5. Customer Service: Addressing customer inquiries, issues, and complaints promptly and professionally.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in construction estimating and scheduling, preferably in a commercial construction environment.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Quickbooks, etc) and project scheduling tools (e.g., Outbuild, Monday).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
  • 5 years Proven experience in project estimation and scheduling within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for estimating and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
