Job Summary
Responsible for the provision of optimum assistance through planning and implementation of nutritional services to patients and the health care team.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a plan of care based on an assessment of nutritional needs and correlated with other health care plans and departmental standards. Utilize appropriate tools, compatible with department standards, in the provision of nutritional care. • Counsel individuals and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and economics. Adapt plans to the individual's lifestyle. • Evaluate nutritional care and provide follow-up for continuity of care. • Communicate appropriate dietetic history and nutritional care data through the electronic medical record. • Participate in health care team rounds and serve as a consultant on nutritional care. Provide dietetic and nutritional consultative services as assigned. • Compile and utilize pertinent operational data to ensure provision of quality nutritional care. Interpret, evaluate, and utilize current research related to nutritional care. • Provide nutritional education to students and personnel. Compile/develop educational materials and use them as aids in nutrition education. • Utilize human effort and resources efficiently and effectively. Evaluate food served for conformance to quality standards and dietary prescriptions. • Serve on committees as assigned. • Orient and train new employees as assigned. • Pursue continuing education opportunities that enhance job duties.• Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE)• Assess and document appropriate criteria for malnutrition diagnosis and coding• Manage tube feedings (TF)• Manage parenteral nutrition (TPN/PPN)

Education
• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Education: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Food Service, or Nutrition Sciences. Master's Degree preferred.Experience: NoneSubstitution: Registry eligible for Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association may substitute for Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association
