Educational Requirements:

The minimum educational requirement for a CADC-R working with Positive Generation in Christ, Inc. is to have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in the human services field and two years of accumulated supervised post-graduate work in the field of substance abuse counseling. The position requires at least 2 years of substance abuse experience with adults or children.  Applicant must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within mental health and substance abuse.  An individual who holds a license, provisional license, or certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, and has four years of full-time accumulated experience with the population served :

 

Reporting Requirements :

This position is supervised by and reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor of Positive Generation in Christ, Inc.

 

Position Summary:

Substance abuse services for adults consisting of management, rehabilitation services, and psychiatric consultation to clients with long-term substance abuse and chronic psychiatric disabilities.  The QP will conduct social assessments, individual support, as well as facilitate group sessions. The QP will provide supervision to staff identified as paraprofessionals. The QP is a valuable member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and will attend and or participate in clinical staffing.  Case Consultations will occur as required per service definition. 

 

Position will have access to computer, fax, and telephone after normal work hours. 

 

 

Required Knowledge:

Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health best practices

Knowledge of theoretical applications to substance abuse counseling

Documentation – Knowledge of SC Medicaid documentation requirements

Ability to handle crisis/emergency situations and to utilize conflict resolution skills.

Know of word processing and data management

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with other professionals to evaluate client’s mental health/substance abuse condition and to assess client needs.
  • Determine nature and extent of disorder and formulates treatment program with other practitioners on the team
  • Participate on Substance Abuse Treatment Team as expert consultant.
  • Maintain case records, correspondence, supervision notes and files in accordance with procedures.
  • Perform other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned.
  • Driving is an essential function.  Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • QP will be available for urgent and emergency consultation after hours and during regular work hours.

Fast-paced, high tech, customer-focused, and innovative clinical environment, constantly evaluating and improving processes; creatively encouraged.  Some evening and/or on-call weekend work is necessary. 

 

Physical Requirements:

Reasonable physical stamina is necessary to perform tasks such as walking, sitting, and standing.  Items to be moved or lifted include medical records.
