The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary:

Oversees the auditing function for the Texas A&M University System to ensure it meets the Institute of Internal Auditors standards and complies with the Texas Internal Auditing Act. Provides leadership and direction for the department and support for the management team. Primarily responsible for managing the audit function through high-leveI analysis and decision-making, goal and objective setting, policy establishment, strategy setting, and communication. Reports to the Board of Regents with access to the Chancellor.

Responsibilities:

- Serves as the liaison between the Board of Regents, the Chancellor, and Chief Executive Officers regarding the internal audit function, including: Reporting audit issues and activities to the Board of Regents; Presenting, the annual audit plan to the Board of Regents for approval; Reviewing and discussing audit reports, correspondence and recommended actions; and Developing working relationships with executive management system-wide.

- Responsible for determining and developing the overall internal audit program for the Texas A&M University System, including: Establishing and maintaining an effective system-wide risk assessment and annual audit plan development process; Providing progressive leadership and direction to 30 professional employees; Coordinating all internal and external audit activities within the Texas A&M University System; and Providing budget oversight for all auditing activities.

- Responsible for all departmental operations, including: Recruiting, hiring, training, promoting and dismissing of employees under direct purview; Reviewing and approving personnel actions for departmental employees; Conducting performance evaluations; and Overseeing the department's financial and business operations.

- Maintain current knowledge of the latest audit techniques, procedures, and standards that may impact operations of the internal audit function. Represent the Texas A&M University System to external groups and higher education institutions.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

- B.B.A. or B.S. in a business discipline.

- Minimum ten years of supervisory experience in auditing and accounting.

- Experience conducting audits in conformance with the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Standards for the practice of Internal Auditing.

- Experience conducting audits in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS).

Registration, Certifications, and Licenses:

- CPA license and/or CIA designation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills, analytical skills and strong leadership skills.

- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in higher education.
