The Certified Professional Coder at Isaiah House will provide quality review and analysis of client records to ensure accuracy of coding and maintain records in accordance with accepted medical and legal standards. They will be responsible for reviewing medical records to assure proper billing of medical record, comparison of provider chosen CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 to the providers documentation to substantiate the level of coding.
Job Specific Functions:
  • Accounts for coding and abstracting of patient encounters, including diagnostic and procedural information.
  • Researches and analyzes data needs for reimbursement.
  • Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies.
  • Reviews and verifies documentation that supports diagnosis, procedures and treatment results.
  • Audits clinical documentation and coded data to validate documentation supports services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.
  • Follows coding conventions and guidelines. Serves as coding consultant to providers, billing staff and leadership.
  • Researches, analyzes, recommends, and facilitates plans of action to correct discrepancies and prevent future coding errors.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • 3+ years coding experience
  • Completion of American Health Information Management (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) accredited coding training program
  • One of the following is required: CPC, CCS, CCS-P
  • Knowledge of Residential, Behavioral Health, Primary Care/FQHC, preferred
  • Knowledge of billing practices and processes, preferred
