Help Desk Intern

Summary: The IU seeks an intern to join its Information Technology (IT) department. The intern will gain hands-on experience providing information and technical support to the IU's 180+ staff as part of the IT Helpdesk team. This includes responding to Helpdesk tickets to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, install applications, and set up computers for new users. This is a great opportunity to shadow senior IT staff and experience some of the latest technology in production. The IU operates Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and iOS-based systems. The IU supports on-premise and remote users.
Primary Functions:
  • Receive service requests via ticket, phone, and email, perform services tasks according to procedures, and escalate where necessary
  • Perform basic hardware repairs and replacements
  • Assist Helpdesk team in configuring, deploying, and managing PCs for new employees using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot
  • Assist with the setting up and troubleshooting of AV equipment in conference rooms
  • Participate in hardware refreshes for existing workstations and mobile devices
  • Help maintain internal IT documentation and employee self-help wiki
  • Perform intermediate level troubleshooting on MS office, Windows devices and basic networking.
  • Perform hardware maintenance on desktops, printers, projectors, mobile devices and other networked hardware
  • Help maintain inventory of all equipment and software as well as document internal procedures
  • Other duties as may be assigned
