<strong>El Super - Buyer (Alcohol/Deli/Dairy/Candy/Grocery) ONSITE</strong> <br> <br> <strong>Location: Commerce, CA</strong> <br> <br>El Super is searching for an experienced<strong> Buyer</strong> (Alcohol/Deli/Dairy/Candy/Grocery) for our Store Support Center in Commerce, CA<br> <br> <strong>Location</strong>:<br> <ul> <li>Commerce, CA - candidates must be in the local area as this is an onsite position.</li></ul> <br> <strong>Work Authorization:</strong> <br> <ul> <li>Candidates after employment will need to submit verification of their legal right to work in the United States.</li> <li>Currently, sponsorships will not be provided for this position. Individuals who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future will not be considered.</li></ul> <br> <strong>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong> <br> <br>The Buyer buys goods for either production and/or resale. The Buyer negotiates the best cost for our company, focusing on the highest quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost. A Buyer identifies foreign and domestic suppliers and keeps abreast of changes affecting both the supply of and demand for, needed products and materials.<br> <br>The responsibilities of a Buyer include:<br> <br> <ul> <li>Full departmental P&L responsibilities.</li> <li>Establishing strategies to meet sales expectations.</li> <li>Managing the purchasing functions of the department.</li> <li>Developing and implementing purchasing, pricing and merchandising strategies.</li> <li>Selecting vendors, assessing vendor capabilities, evaluating vendor performance, and negotiating cost, delivery and payment terms.</li> <li>Maintaining established inventory turns for each product category purchased.</li> <li>Communicating with store level personnel on all new pricing information as well as status of inventory in order to eliminate any slow moving/out of date/overstocked products.</li> <li>Developing store level ordering strategies including management of DSD vendors.</li> <li>Striving continuously to obtain new or improved lines of inventory/products for the company.</li> <li>Developing, implementing and maintaining category Plan-O-Gram at store level.</li> <li>Expediting purchase order vendor</li> <li>Negotiating annual contracts</li> <li>Evaluating promotions.</li></ul> <br> <strong>JOB QUALIFICATIONS:</strong> <br> <br>Education:<br> <ul> <li>Four-year degree preferred.</li></ul> <br>Experience:<br> <ul> <li>Have a minimum 5 years of grocery buying experience.</li></ul> <br>Field of Expertise:<br> <ul> <li>Purchasing, Merchandising</li> <li>Experience in International food retailing preferred.</li> <li>Business Management.</li></ul> <br>Skills:<br> <ul> <li>Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred but not required.</li> <li>The ability to develop good relationships with vendors and maintains communication with other departments within the organization.</li> <li>Strong planning, analytical and time management skills.</li> <li>Strong computer skills.</li> <li>Relocation assistance offered.</li></ul> <br>Other:<br> <ul> <li>Travel to store locations frequently and exposure to weather conditions due to travel.</li> <li>Working environment involves inside office and store with controlled temperatures and protection from weather conditions.</li></ul> <br> <strong>COMPENSATION: </strong>The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000.
