Together, we can beat cancer. At Varian, a Siemens Healthineers Company, we bring together the world's best talent to realize our vision of a world without fear of cancer. Together, we work passionately to develop and deliver easy-to-use, efficient oncology solutions. We are part of an incredible community of scientists, clinicians, developers, researchers, professionals, and skilled specialists pushing the boundaries of what's possible, to improve people's lives around the world. We embrace a culture of inclusivity in which the power and potential of every individual can be unleashed. We spark ideas that lead to positive impact and continued success. If you want to be part of this important mission, we want to hear from you. Why will you enjoy this new opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Software Engineer to work with our engineers and operators to develop and maintain the software solutions that improve how we build and test our radiotherapy systems. You should be excited about owning software through its full lifecycle, having a direct and collaborative relationship with our colleagues in the Manufacturing and R&D teams, and learning about how our products use high-energy physics to treat cancer. What are the performance outcomes you will work toward completing? As Senior Manufacturing Software Engineer, you will ensure that our Manufacturing Engineering team is equipped with the control and data acquisition software tools required to support our test and assembly processes. In the first 30 days, you will be part of our commitment to Safety and Quality, familiar with our regulatory constraints as a medical device manufacturer and understand our process for releasing new code into production. Within the first 90 days, you will be working closely with other developers, and have contributed code to solutions in our team's portfolio. Within 180 days and beyond, you will be the product owner and senior technical expert for a portion of our software tool portfolio, and be fully engaged on multiple projects, providing leadership in gathering requirements, defining solutions, and identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation. What type of work will you be doing? Designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications developed in C# or Visual Basic, with backend implementations in XML, SQL Server, or similar databases. Guiding software releases through our testing and validation processes to ensure compatibility, reliability, and traceability in a medical device manufacturing environment. Performing root cause analysis of our software applications and their dependencies, such as workstations, industrial hardware, and IT resources. Reading and interpreting technical documentation for hardware solutions, such as using serial interfaces or network libraries, in order to develop and troubleshoot control and data acquisition software or human-machine interfaces. Collaborating with engineers and operators to understand the pain points or optimization opportunities in our production processes, to determine where software solutions can improve our ability to reduce variation, rework, or waste. Updating or creating documentation of our software and helping colleagues outside our team understand and consume our solutions. Participating in, and helping to mature and scale, development processes such as code reviews, backlog reviews, and scrum meetings. Providing coaching, mentoring, and oversight to other members of the team. What is the structure of the team? You will be joining the Manufacturing Software Engineering team, based in Palo Alto, helping us to build out our team of six developers and administrators. While we believe in the Six Sigma value of "going to Gemba" and fully understanding the people and process flow in person when needed, we also believe that flexibility is a key aspect of innovative, creative cultures and we support empowering our people to use their professional judgement on how to most effectively work in a hybrid model. # LS-OS1 Fighting cancer calls for big ideas.
