POSITION TITLE: REGULAR EDUCATION BEHAVIOR SUPPORT PARAPROFESSIONAL - GENERAL EDUCATION
183 Day $19,599 per year. ($14.28 an hour x 7.5 hours x 183 days) This is prorated if you do not start at the beginning of the year.

JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide competent support and assistance to the general education behavior support teachers in the full implementation of the consultative behavioral support process. Assists teachers in improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective behavioral strategies. Meets and instructs assigned individuals in locations and at the times designated by the behavior support staff. Assists the behavior support teacher in the implementation of programs of study that, as much as possible, meet the individual needs and abilities of the students. Provides the teacher with input for assessing the accomplishments of students. Assists in the collection of data and in compiling and organizing data for review by the teacher. Assists with the implementation of sensory diets/protocols and positive behavioral supports/interventions. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Supports and assists school-based personnel in organizing, coordinating, planning, and directing the implementation of a comprehensive classroom instructional program for students based on Behavior Consultation Requests. Provides modeling and other support required to school-based personnel to ensure, improve, monitor, and assist students who demonstrate behavioral needs. Maintain satisfactory attendance defined by the system or local school handbook. Comply with conditions stated in the contract of employment. Comply with the federal, state, and local board of education requirements for the development of educationally appropriate instruction. Participates successfully in all training programs designed to increase skill and proficiency related to the individual job assignment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, OR TRAINING: Qualify for a Paraprofessional Certificate by either holding an Associate Degree or higher or 90 college quarter hours/60 semester hours or pass the assessment test for paraprofessionals (GACE). Mindset de-escalation certification or ability/willingness to complete Mindset certification is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS: The ability to organize, direct, and control individuals or small groups of children in a variety of activities and settings. The ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with and directing the activities of children.
