  • The cardiac ultrasonographer is a professional diagnostician who works closely with physicians, and nurses, to accurately diagnose medical disorders and perform cardiac ultrasound procedures utilizing current technologies. Ability to perform EKG's.

  • Responsible for independent operation of sonographic equipment; performing and completing studies of cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography).

  • Captures relevant patient history and demographics.

  • May perform EKGs. May perform general ultrasound procedures as needed.

  • Is able to transmit or present test results to physician.

  • Maintains proper equipment function; assures data capture.

  • Maintains service logs for ultrasound equipment and file maintenance, including retrieving and filing folders and report distribution.

  • Participates in review of ultrasound billing codes for accuracy.

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an approved school of medical ultrasonography.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to perform EKG's preferred.

  • One year of clinical experience in medical ultrasonography is preferred.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have credentials in ultrasound with the ARDMS-American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers; or CCI-Cardiac Credentialing International, or Registry eligible.

  • Must have an active BLS.
