This is an ongoing recruitment. After an application is submitted, the Warehouse Supervisor or the Director of Nutrition Services will contact applicants for interviews on an as-needed basis.
Job Summary: This position performs a variety of duties and tasks assigned to Shipping & Receiving and the Nutrition Services warehouses, including the receipt, storage, issuance, and delivery of all material consigned to or shipped from the school district. Job duties may include loading and delivery of food and non-food items to school kitchens utilizing a minivan and working in the Nutrition Services warehouse.
Hourly rate: $18.00
Work hours: Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed, on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis.
Benefits: There are no benefits associated with these positions.
Job Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience driving a box or cargo vehicle (at least 29ft. 4in. in length).
  • Must possess a current, unrestricted State of Alaska driver's license and the ability to obtain a pass on to Fort Wainwright and Eielson Air Force Base.
  • Must demonstrate skills and safe operation of vehicles and equipment associated with expeditor tasks.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English, cognitive skills to understand instructions, ability to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively and successfully as a team member with a wide variety of personnel and customers.
  • Must possess an appropriate level of physical fitness to successfully meet the demands of the position, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Requires visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical and safety information. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms, and repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment. Heavy lifting is required; employees must have the ability to safely lift 70 lb. from floor to chest level without assistance. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items.
